    The Running Deer Group of Companies (RDGOC) is seeking a talented Project Coordinator with a background in Human Resource Management to join its growing team. The RDGOC is a Winnipeg Aboriginally owned group of companies comprised of:

    Running Deer Resources: Our Aboriginal engagement firm that works with communities and Industry to implement grassroots strategies to connect our clients with an Aboriginal workforce and Aboriginal owned businesses.

    RDR Industrial: Our engineering, procurement and construction management firm that specializes in industrial capital projects within the resource sector.

    Running Deer Labour Solutions: Our labour solutions firm that specializes in connecting Industry with a skilled Aboriginal workforce.


    The successful candidate will work for Running Deer Resources (RDR) and will be responsible for directing, organizing and controlling engagement project activities, under the direction of the President of RDR. The Project Coordinator will also be responsible to managing the Working Warrior Initiative, an innovative solution created by RDR to help connect a growing First Nation, Inuit and Metis workforce to employment opportunities with industry partners across Canada. The position will also be responsible for managing the Human Resource requirements of the RDGOC. The Project Coordinator will be a full time position based primarily out of Winnipeg, Manitoba.


    • Degree
      or Diploma in Project Management or an equivalent experience or 3-5 years
      of experience supporting Project Managers in the delivery of projects,
      initiatives or programs
    • A
      background in Human Resources Management is a must
    • Familiarity
      with Aboriginal culture, traditions, history and advocacy organizations
    • Proficiency
      in MS Project and/or the MS Office Suite of products
    • Effective
      communication skills including verbal, written and presentation skills
    • Proven
      ability to work effectively both independently and in a team based
    • Strong
      multi-tasking and organizational skills
    • Legally
      entitled to work in Canada
    • A
      valid class 5 driver’s license

    Project Coordinator Responsibilities

    • Assist the President of RDR and other
      senior management with the drafting and issuance of project proposals,
      RFP’s, tenders, budgets, cash flows and preliminary schedules
    • Track the progress and quality of work
      being performed by RDR
    • Use project scheduling and control tools
      to monitor projects plans, work hours, budgets and expenditures
    • Effectively and accurately communicate
      relevant project information to the client and project team
    • Ensure clients’ needs are met in a timely
      and cost effective manner
    • Keep the President of RDR and others
      informed about project status and issues that may impact client relations
    • Meet with the Chief, Council and
      administration of Aboriginal communities to explain RDR’s services, the
      Working Warriors initiative and develop a strong working relationship
    • Training
      staff members of the various communities on how to use the Community Resource
      Information System and the Working Warriors Initiative
    • Managing
      of day-to-day tasks and overseeing the progression
      of long term projects

    Human Resource Responsibilities

    • Maintain staff by interviewing and
      recruiting prospective new hires and counsel managers on candidate
    • Prepare employees for assignments by
      establishing and conducting orientation and training programs.
    • Plan, organize, direct, control and
      evaluate the operations of human resources or personnel departments
    • Plan human resource requirements in
      conjunction with other managers in the RDGOC
    • Organize and conduct employee information
      meetings on employment policy, benefits and compensation and participate
      actively on various joint committees
    • Ensure compliance with legislation such
      as the Pay Equity Act.
